Located in Nianing on the border of Warang.  Cozy dining in nice setting with live music once a week.

Cosy restaurant in Nianing, international kitchen with Mediterranean accents.  The courtyard is very cosy.

Saint Gabriel

An attractive restaurant that has changed its manager several times, but the food is always good.

Chez Annick

A restaurant frequently visited by locals and tourists.  Don’t be misled by the simple setting and low prices, because the food is very good.  Especially in the afternoon it can be very crowded.

Chez Georges

Without doubt the best restaurant in the far area, but at European prices.

Visit

Island Gorée

Gorée, which is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, is a small 18-hectare island located off the coast of Senegal opposite Dakar.  From the 15th to the 19th century, it was a centre of the slave trade on the African coast.  The architecture is characterised by the contrast between the stark slave quarters and the elegant houses of the slave traders.  Today, the island is a symbol of human exploitation, but also a place of reconciliation with the past.

Lac Rose

25 kilometres from Dakar is Lac Rose, which owes its name to the colour of its water. The lake contains a high concentration of salt, red plankton and bacteria, which cause the specific colour shades. Everyone is allowed to extract salt from the lake using traditional methods: the salt is shovelled into boats and then placed in piles on the shore, after which it can be sold.

Lompoul desert

The Lompoul desert, located halfway between Dakar and Saint-Louis, is a small desert of 18 km².  The ochre-coloured sand dunes are beautiful.  You can make trips on a dromedary and even spend the night in a Mauretani tent camp.

Kayar

Kayar is the most important artisanal fishing port in Senegal.  It is located in the Thiès region, 58 kilometres north of Dakar, the capital of Senegal.

Fadiouth : ile aux coquillages

The island is connected to the village of Joal by an 800m long wooden footbridge.  It was formed by the ancient waste from shellfish fishing.  This makes the ground white and dazzling in bright sunlight.

Saint-Louis

Until Dakar became the capital of Senegal, Saint-Louis was the most important city.  The heart of the city is located on an island in the mouth of the river and is filled with houses in French colonial style.  The city is on UNESCO’s world heritage list, so dilapidated buildings are being renovated and more and more travellers are finding their way to the city.

Sine-Saloum Delta

Sine-Saloum is a 180,000 hectare nature reserve in Senegal. It lies to the north of the Gambia, about 100 kilometres from Dakar. Within the area is the Delta du Saloum national park.  The area is a delta, where two rivers meet each other: the Sine and the Saloum.  Many migratory birds from Europe spend the winter in Sine-Saloum. The area is used for energy production.
